WELCOME TO THE JOLLY TANNERS
Jolly Tanners FreeHouse Pub Sign

Welcome to the 'Tanners' Free House; a popular, independently run pub in the beautiful West Sussex village of Staplefield.

With so many pubs falling at the hands of the big pub companies and with every last piece of traditional charm being strangled out of them, we hope that you'll join us to celebrate the Great British pub the way it should be.

We pride ourselves in providing a wide selection of real ales and tasty food made using local ingredients wherever possible, all to be enjoyed in a traditional pub environment.

We believe pubs should have roaring fires in the winter and you should be able to make the most of our all too short summers in our idyllic beer garden.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

AlesAles

We pride ourselves in serving an ever-changing choice of cask ales, from a wide selection of independent brewers.

Over the years, the Tanners has built up a reputation for being one of the leading real ale pubs in the county and were proud to be chosen as CAMRA North Sussex pub of the year for 2006, a title previously held by us in 2002.

STOP PRESS - We're also finalists for the 2009 CAMRA North Sussex pub of the year award

Our commitment to real ale is showcased twice a year at our beer festivals, for more information see the beer festival site.

FoodFood

Alongside our real ales, we aim to keep you well fed with our wide range of home cooked food. In addition to our standard menu, our chef, Mischka, is constantly updating the specials board.

Tables are available in the dining room, both bars and in our colourful pub garden (British weather permitting). Within watchful distance of the garden is a grassy play area for the children.

Monday nights have affectionately become known as 'I do like Mondays' – a time when we put on a special menu, two courses for just £10...great value.

EntertainmentEntertainment

This year we'll be booking a series of local bands, spanning a broad range of musical styles – keep an eye out for more information on the notice board page.

We hold a quiz night every Thursday, alternating between general knowledge and music.

Debby's Cuts - local hairdresser Debby brings her services to the pub on the first Tuesday of the month.
